Vehicle accidents and the investigation…
In any such accident that occurs at an intersection, the investigation will usually focus on who had the right-of-way at the intersection. According to the Revised Code of Washington 46.61.185: “The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close thereto as to constitute an immediate hazard.”
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates motorcyclists are 37 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a crash per vehicle mile traveled in 2007 and nine times more likely to be injured. In 2008 motorcyclists accounted for 14 percent of all traffic fatalities, 17 percent of all occupant fatalities and 4 percent of all occupants injured.
