*** I have re-pasted this question because I did not get any answers last time, so I’m trying again***

If you refer to my profile you will see that I am undertaking a grueling task of writing a novel. But ’tis not so grueling, because I am having great fun in doing it. It is a novel from the heart, which, (with no touch of arrogance), for that very reason, do I deem it a wok of admirable and portent quality.

Here are some excerpts. I’ll post some excerpts here and there once in a while to just get a feel of what the masses think. This is my first attempt of such a magnanimous scale. The novel is "autobiographical" but not really. It is confusing to explain.

And yes, I start sentences with ‘and’ and ‘but’. What are you going to do about, kill me?! Here, I’ll hand you Ahab’s harpoon. Do with it what you willeth with it!( get the allegory? )…
————————————–…
With every step I take the Earth trembles. Although apparently meaningless, this rather simple movement actually has a catastrophic effect on everything surrounding me. Infinite number of particles are being rearranged and moved around. Ants once under the looming shadow of their death either lay slain or scurry among their wake. Imperceptible strands of moss
lay flattened and lifeless. To us, one step is meaningless, void of any special meaning, but to those things below, it is the whole world, a Big Bang all over again. This incredulous phenomena is partly due to the much more elevated plane of living which we "enjoy", and also partly due to the automated inclination of mankind to not acknowledge any of these intricacies of the complex algorithm that orchestrates the very textuality of life…

…Like a giant black veil being lifted and demonstrating the grotesque subhuman gargoyle thing underneath, I have with my own, corrosively peeled the ornate and fanciful aspects of life, peeled them and peeled them, peeled them raw, peeled them so much that they bled. What resulted were incurable scars…

…It is our very design that short-circuits us. this, and death. We try and try to make the right decisions in life, try to choose the right way. But what everyone fails to realize, is that all the paths taken by every human that has ever lived has always converged to the same desolate and desperate chamber of darkness. No matter how hard we pick up the pick-axe, and no matter how hard the gravel that we chip away is, and no matter how narrow the gap we crawl through in the everlasting tunnel to survive is, in the end it is all the same. We are the salves to our own misfortunes, to our own deviation of this intended straight-line path. We are the slaves, eventually to our own death. It is this ironical paradox that has plagued me ever since I had a conscious. There is no exception to this rule, it is inflexible. Outrageously so… And if any featherbrained scientist wants to answer to you about that paradox that I have just undertaken ( and so heroically so, might I add ), claiming to have in his clutches the magical theory of life, you shut the door in front of his face with emphatic resonance…
————————————–…

Well, what do you think?

You’ll hear more from me as I frequently migrate in and out of my mad thinking hole.

P.S.- these are just short excerpts.
PS2- I know ‘textuality’ is not a word, but I DON’T CARE… I’ll write it just about how I very damn well please…

Thank you all in advance.
I started writing my novel whilst listening to Beethoven’s 3rd. Yeah, I’m strange.

Wow, all three samples are great. The first one is reminiscent of a Joycian style which strives to examine life from radically different perspectives. The imagery in the second one is uncomfortably grotesque, very gripping because it makes me question my own character. The third one is my favorite because of your forthright tone. Good luck writing!

Thank you all in advance.
I promise to all, if I do someone publish my novel in the future, it will be one of the greatest books ever written. When push comes to shove, I will release the title of the novel and my name on YAnswers
I started writing my novel whilst listening to Beethoven’s 3rd. Yeah, I’m strange.

Wow…I love the way you write…you write like me, you questions things like I do. I love the first except on every step…it’s beautifully written and the perspective from which it’s written is amazing. You take things, simple things, and put them in unique form and describe them to such an intricate end, it’s simple yet full of complexity.

The second excerpt is well written too…the peeling concept is so humanly tangible…and the repetition of this "peeling" makes me feel as if I am actually peeling…that’s exactly how the reader is supposed to feel, you definitely have it.

And the last excerpt on death is good again. The detail and comparisons are intricately put in and the language is sophisticated, but not too much to lose its meaning.

I would love to hear more of this.

Proof of Forza 2’s power curve-based shift algorithm. Shifts are made at “that specific RPM” in which the power made in the current ratio equals the power made in the next ratio, velocity held constant. It is bounded above by the defined “Redline” RPM. In this example, the car has a relatively parabolic power curve with its vertex at 6,000rpm. The needle sweeps very clearly “straddle” this peak, maximizing power output at all times.

Turn 10 Studios really surprised me with this one. Strictly in terms of straight line acceleration, it is advantageous to let the game shift for you, as it is impractical to memorize such accurate shift points and execute them yourself.

I messaged Turn 10 recommending that in order to help balance this out, a shift light UI element should be added for manual drivers, with the light pattern helping players shift at those same, calculated RPMs. All I know thus far is that my message has been forwarded to the development team, so we’ll see what their take is when Forza 3 rolls around the corner.

On another note, this is only the second time I’ve seen a game take the time to calculate shift points—the other (to my knowledge), being Live for Speed. A part of me can’t help but be disappointed knowing that new great games will come out without taking this simple algorithm into consideration such as Gran Turismo 5. Minor, but unfortunate.

AutoCardSorter is inspired by the Card Sorting user method and employs semantic similarity measures (e.g. Latent Semantic Analysis – LSA) to calculate semantic similarity of different Web pages and clustering algorithms (e.g. Hierarchical Clustering) to cluster accordingly the information space. The tool also implements statistical approaches (e.g. Eigenvalue Analysis) to identify the best-fit number of top-level categories.

AutoCardSorter is aimed at providing the necessary flexibility and efficiency to the practitioners to design or evaluate the information architecture of a web site. Such an automated approach could substantially accelerate the design and evaluation lifecycle, by providing valuable insight and increasing the possibility to explore alternative designs for the structure of a web site.Other benefits include the support to non-technical content creators and multi-audience sites.

Feng Liu and Michael Gleicher

IEEE CVPR 2009

Abstract
This paper presents an algorithm for automatically detecting and segmenting a moving object from a monocular video. Detecting and segmenting a moving object from a video with limited object motion is challenging. Since existing automatic algorithms rely on motion to detect the moving object, they cannot work well when the object motion is sparse and insufficient. In this paper, we present an unsupervised algorithm to learn object color and locality cues from the sparse motion information. We first detect key frames with reliable motion cues and then estimate moving sub-objects based on these motion cues using a Markov Random Field (MRF) framework. From these sub-objects, we learn an appearance model as a color Gaussian Mixture Model. To avoid the false classification of background pixels with similar color to the moving objects, the locations of these sub-objects are propagated to neighboring frames as locality cues. Finally, robust moving object segmentation is achieved by combining these learned color and locality cues with motion cues in a MRF framework. Experiments on videos with a variety of object and camera motion demonstrate the effectiveness of this algorithm.
