I was very fortunate to take a tour of an operational SAGE facility in Fort Lee, Virginia in the early 1970’s. To enter a building that was, in essence, a computer, was amazing to an 11 year old kid.

I’ll always remember the “spaghetti room” – where thousands of wires were interconnected, and another room with “tubes” the size of a water cooler bottle.

Technology back then was much better engineered, and a lot more fun to look at.
