i purchased a fish tank that was faulty, company promised a replacement but now wont answer my corrispondance?

hi, i bought a fish tank a little over a year ago that was very expensive. the transformer blew a couple of months ago and when i contacted the company they told me they were aware of a fault in a small batch of hoods and promised to dispatch another one out to me. as stated that was over two months ago, i called after a couple of weeks later as i assumed it would have arrived by then and they told me that they hadnt sent one out as they were out of stock but should only be a few more days. i have called numerouse other times since and cannot get through, the automated service just says to leave name and number and someone will call back but noone has, i have also emailed a couple of times and recieved no response. what do i do now? they obviously are just ignoring me and hoping i will go away.

do you have an address? I would see a solicitor and get him (yeh it will cost) to write them a nice little letter, explaining the legal situation. I have a feeling you will get a quick reply.

Who were they? The fact that no-one answers the phone is ominous, I wonder if they’re about to go bust. Any good business would answer its phone, they don’t know that it’s not someone with a big order trying to get through . . .

If you live in the US, contact your state’s consumer protection bureau. If you have none, contact your state’s Attorney General. File a complaint and ask the AG office to look into the matter.
